What's the history of Giving Tuesday?

Launched in the United States in 2012, Giving Tuesday is a global day of giving.

Giving Tuesday is the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, Black Friday and Cyber Monday and kicks off the giving season. More information about the global campaign can be found at GivingTuesday.org.

This year, Giving Tuesday is December 1, 2020.

Why is Giving Tuesday powered by SHARE Omaha locally?

SHARE Omaha’s mission is to help nonprofits fulfill theirs. Giving Tuesday is an easy way for givers to connect with nonprofits they care about and surprise neighbors with kindness. This is a celebration of all acts of good and it feels like SHARE Omaha.

 SHARE Omaha can’t wait to bring the international Giving Tuesday movement home with GivingTuesday402.org and GivingTuesday712.org.

Who can participate in Giving Tuesday?

Anyone! All Do Gooders are encouraged to share their plan for good at GivingTuesday402.org and GivingTuesday712.org.

 All metro nonprofits are invited to participate in the Giving Tuesday movement.

How is SHARE Omaha working with community foundations and partners?

SHARE Omaha is excited to spread the giving by collaborating with:
-Omaha Community Foundation
-Pottawattamie County Community Foundation

Does SHARE Omaha take a percent of donations?

SHARE Omaha does not charge nonprofits or givers for its services or benefits. For cash donations SHARE Omaha utilizes PayPal, which charges a low 2.2% + $0.30 service fee per transaction for nonprofit accounts. Donors are invited to cover this fee for nonprofits.

Can I give through the Omaha Gives platform or to a nonprofit directly?

Absolutely! Give how and where you are comfortable. Just put positivity out there.
